Mayor and Council Elections

The Town of Colmar Manor is governed by a Mayor & Council form of government. One Councilmember is elected from each of the Town's four wards. The Mayor is elected at-large. Each representative is elected to a four-year term. 

CouncilElections are held on the first Tuesday in May every four (4) years thereafter, the qualified voters of the Town shall elect a Councilmember from each ward to serve a term of four (4) years to be voted for by the qualified voters of their respective wards.

The next election for all four Councilmembers will be held in 2024.

MayorOn the first Tuesday in May 2006 and every four (4) years thereafter, the qualified voters of said town shall elect a mayor to serve a term of four (4) years, to be voted for by the qualified voters of the entire town.
An election for Mayor will be in 2026.

Town Council Election 2024

All four seats on the Town of Colmar Manor's Council are up for election this year. To run for office, you must meet several qualifications as outlined in the Town Charter and file a petition.

Council candidates must be:
    • 21 years old or older
    • A resident of the town for at least one year
    • A resident of the ward they wish to represent for at least 30 days
    • A registered and qualified elector of the town

If you meet these qualifications you must obtain a minimum of 10 valid signatures from registered voters in town with a petition form. The town can provide you with a list of registered voters. 

Once you have received 10 or more signatures, please fill out a cover sheet. If you intend to raise campaign funds over $30, through donations, you must also file a designation of treasurer form. If you do not intend to raise more than $30 you must fill out an affidavit form.   
                                                                                          
Filing
To file, bring the cover page, petition, treasurer designation form, or affidavit form to town hall before 5:00 PM, April 8, 2024.

Applicants with insufficient signatures, before the deadline, will be notified so they may go out and receive more signatures.
